What is MedJet Assist?
MedJet Assist is a medical evacuation and repatriation membership program. If you’re a MedJet member, and you’re sick or injured and hospitalized over 150 miles from home, international or domestic, MedJet Assist will arrange for medical transfer back to the hospital of your choice.
Why wouldn’t someone enroll in Medjet?
3 Common Myths
Myth 1: My Platinum card covers me for Evacuation just like MedJet.
Truth: Platinum cards do not typically provide for hospital-of-choice medical evacuation and more importantly they leave the final decision for transport up to the designated physician to determine if transport is warranted.
Myth 2: The Travel Insurance Policy already covers my client for Evacuation, they don’t need Medjet.
Truth: In order to qualify for transport through the typical insurance policy, you will need to be severely injured or ill enough to “warrant” transport as deemed “medically necessary” by approvals from the foreign attending physician and the insurance company. Additionally, the current facility (or local facilities) must be deemed “inadequate” before honoring transport benefits. With Medjet, as long as you are hospitalized as an inpatient more than 150 miles from home, you can choose to be transferred to the hospital of your choice—with just a single phone call to Medjet.
Myth 3: Medjet is too expensive.
Truth: You can’t afford not to have Medjet. Short-term memberships and AARP discounts are now available. AARP 7-day memberships start at just $75! An annual membership with AARP discounting is just $205 (for those under 75).
